Music Video Premier: Watch Atlanta Duo holders' Surreal, Puppet-Filled Video for "Peoria"
GLS is very excited to be host to Atlanta’s holders, who bring forth their shoegaze punk sound in a new video for the track “Peoria” from their latest EP family camping in peoria, il. With a strike of distorted, phase-washed guitar and a crash, the piece hearkens back to the 90’s grunge days, but setting it to a faster, dancy pace. Containing excellent riffs from guitarist/frontman Nelson Crawford and some incredibly detailed rhythms from drummer Cole, this video displays that together the duo brings a huge sound to the scene.
Warning, be ready for puppets. Good Lord, so many puppets.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the video is the clever use of lighting to produce a somewhat surreal, psychedelic feel. While the video is fairly simplistic in it’s approach, focusing on the band itself (and their felt doppelgangers), it also gives the viewer something new by using fades to puppets (and I’m guessing the puppet master) to establish the sense of a concert crowd. The video’s replay value certainly comes from the music, as “Peoria”’s grunge-gaze rage is very addictive, and I love the instrumental ending that just satrates you with the sound holders has crafted.
