"Hey Doctor" - Fairshake's Nostalgic New Music Video
Pop rock quartet Fairshake has released a video for their new single "Hey Doctor", from their upcoming self-titled record which drops May 20th. The single is catchy and nostalgic with a dash of rock veteran Melissa Etheridge’s voice in vocalist Shayne Goss' mid-range, raspy tone. Goss is accompanied by vigorous guitar chords (Tucker Harding) and a strong bass line (Chase Sammons) laced with a bit of ska and enthusiastic drums (Dan Wilson): a dream pairing. Anyone who grew up with artists such as Michelle Branch and Gin Blossoms will understand Fairshakes purpose - to hook you. The band shows maturity in a music scene that caters to younger audiences, and it stands out in the best way possible. There is so much potential in a sound that makes you remember a time when life was not so difficult. Fairshake manages to achieve it effortlessly, all the while showcasing a wide range of influences from the last 25 years.
The recently released music video for "Hey Doctor" (shot by Edward Tumulty Photography) is fun and joyous. The color grading is interesting, and occasionally you see an old VHS-type glitch flash across the screen, which amps up the nostalgia factor for those familiar with the pre-internet era. Fairshake achieves an aesthetic that acts like an introduction to a 1990s sitcom. With each band member's name appearing across the screen in a 'Full House' -esque montage, it is plain to see what kind of relationship the members of the band have with each other. Friendship conquers obstacles, an important message in an age where many times popularity is prioritized over companionship.
