Mama Don't Worry, I'm Just Reading My Gospel - The Reemergence of Heartless Romantic
Heartless Romantic, the Atlanta based rock band featuring Mike Motter (vocals), Solomon Delconte (guitar), AJ Pekarek (guitar), Jake Walski (bass) and Nick Troino (drums) has returned from a lengthy hiatus on the eve of their upcoming album The Upside of Drowning. Heartless Romantic spent much of the past year and a half writing and recording the new record, pouring emotion into every note, striving to create a hauntingly melodic rock album that speaks as a testament to the level of musical mastery an underground band is capable of achieving. Instead of dropping the entire album at once, the band has decided to release several singles to showcase the range of what’s to come from The Upside of Drowning.
“Terms and Conditions May Apply,” for example, is a gut-punching five minute frenzy of screaming guitars and powerful vocals which features piercing lyrics that beg the question, “Who wants to live forever on someone else's time? Who wants to stick around to see the end of humankind?”
This summer I had the opportunity to sit down with Heartless Romantic (à la The Heartless Gospel - the band’s weekly podcast) and talk about the their origins, their social media hiatus, and what’s to come for this rock powerhouse.
