Maggie Schneider Plays Warped Tour
Vans Warped Tour has showcased artists from big to small across the country since 1995. Every year, Georgia music enthusiasts flock to Atlanta to see their favorite bands perform on the big stage, alongside hand picked, up-and-coming local musicians. But 2018 will be the end of the 23 year old Festival (at least in its capacity as a full cross-country event).
One of this year's Warped Tour local picks is Atlanta's very own, Meggie Schneider. The pop-rock singer songwriter will be one of the last Georgia artists to grace the Warped tour stage. So I reached out to Schneider to learn more about this exciting experience.
Schneider’s been a musician for practically her entire life. Like many, she grew up singing along to pop classics in her mother's car on the way to school. One day she took up the piano, the next the guitar, and the rest is history.
The young artist has been releasing material year after year since 2015. She writes her own material and records much of the instrumentation featured in her songs herself. However, she also collaborates with other musicians like fellow Atlanta native Alex Crain and Rian Dawson, drummer of All Time Low.
Naturally, performing at Warped tour is a big deal for Maggie.
“It's been a dream of mine for years,” Schneider said.
“I went to my first one when I was 13,” she added.
Warped Tour sponsor Cool Suppliers was responsible for picking local artists to play this year's Festival. So when Schneider came across the opportunity to fulfill her dream, she jumped on it.
“I took a chance and said, 'I don't know if it's going to work, but, you know, why not?'”
Clearly that chance paid off as the rising singer-songwriter will be performing on the Learning is Endless: Transform stage on July 31st.
Schneider’s achieved what many aspiring singer-songwriters dream of. When asked what advice she'd give young artists, struggling to get themselves out there, Maggie replied, “Never let go of your dreams. Just keep working hard, you know, everyone starts somewhere."
In addition to Warped Tour, Schneider recently released a new single, "Pretend", which you can find on Spotify, and iTunes. Plus, if you can't catch her at Warped Tour, you can find her at the Masquerade (Hell) on August 1st, opening for He is We. For more information, head over to Schneider's Facebook page.
